EDUCATION & COURT ADMISSIONS

Billy J. Sheffield II began his academic journey at Troy University, graduating in 1991 with a double Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Criminal Justice. He later earned his Juris Doctor from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 1998. Prior to his legal career, he worked as a Senior Nuclear Chemist for more than 11 years, a role that endowed him with technical skills that continue to set him apart in the courtroom.

Throughout his legal career, Mr. Sheffield has been recognized for his aggressive and experienced trial representation, providing effective legal solutions tailored to each client’s unique needs. His scientific expertise has been instrumental in cases involving DNA testing and drug analysis, leading to successful exonerations by exposing flaws in evidence handling. He is known for his high success rate in jury acquittals, having defended clients in complex cases ranging from sexual assault and murder to drug trafficking. Notably, he secured acquittals in a $32 million embezzlement case and in the defense of a Houston County Commissioner prosecuted by the Alabama Attorney General’s Office involving Country Crossings.

Outside the office, Mr. Sheffield is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, hunting, and traveling, but he values most the time he spends with his family. His work is guided by a deep respect for his clients and a dedication to upholding their rights with integrity and skill.
